Comparing Electrolyte Powders: Relyte vs LMNT

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When I’m looking to purchase a supplement I want to look at all the details of the products.

Therefore, in this post, I looked at prices, ingredients, and different forms of electrolytes. I even priced out the servings of each electrolyte.

Most of the comparisons will be shown in tables for easy viewing.

Jump to:

Electrolytes and Ingredients in Relyte and LMNT

LMNT

The supplements in LMNT are salt as sodium chloride, magnesium (malate), and potassium (chloride).

Ingredients used for flavor are stevia leaf extract and natural flavors.

Re-Lyte Hydration

The supplements in Re-Lyte Hydration are salt from Redmond Real Salt, magnesium (malate and glycinate), potassium (citrate), chloride, calcium (carbonate), and coconut water powder.

Ingredients used for flavor are stevia leaf extract, natural flavors, and GMO-free citric acid.

Amounts of Electrolytes in Powder

To keep things standard in comparing the amounts of electrolytes in each brand it’s always good to know how much powder is in each serving.

There are 6 grams of powder in LMNT and 6.3 grams in the Re-Lyte Hydration.

Name Magnesium Potassium Sodium Calcium Chloride
Re-Lyte Hydration 50 mg 400 mg 810 mg 60 mg 1280 mg
LMNT 60 mg 200 mg 1,000 mg Not Included Not Included
This table looks at the total amount of electrolytes in each brand per serving.

Flavors of Each Brand with their Carb Counts

LMNT

  • Watermelon-1 carb
  • Orange-2 carbs
  • Raspberry-2 carbs
  • Lemon Habanero-2 carbs
  • Mango Chil-less than 1 carb
  • Chocolate-1 carb

Re-Lyte Hydration

  • Strawberry Lemonade-0 carbs

Different Forms of Electrolytes

Name Magnesium Potassium Sodium Calcium Chloride
Re-Lyte Hydration Malate & Glycinate Citrate Redmond Pink Real Salt Carbonate Chloride
LMNT Malate Chloride Sodium Chloride Not Included Not Included
This table looks at the different forms of electrolytes from each brand.

Of the 3 significant electrolytes, sodium, potassium, and chloride, Re-Lyte has all 3 and LMNT has 2 of the 3. Magnesium, calcium, phosphate, and bicarbonate are other electrolytes the body needs from either fluids or food (source).

The top 3 electrolytes you will hear that we need most in keto are sodium, potassium, and magnesium. We must replenish these with food or through a supplement.

On a side note, most Americans are not getting enough magnesium in their diets.

The Difference between Potassium Chloride and Potassium Citrate

Potassium citrate is used to stop kidney stones that can happen if someone has gout. It’s also used to treat kidney stones. Potassium citrate also alkalizes urine (source).

Potassium chloride is used in the treatment of hypokalemia, low potassium (source).

Both of these forms of potassium have not been shown to be better than each other (source).

The Difference between Magnesium Glycinate and Malate

Magnesium glycinate has been found to help those who are dealing with cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory diseases, and diabetes. It even helps the quality of sleep and neurological functions (source).

Magnesium malate has been found to help the following conditions, Alzheimer’s disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, headaches and migraines, fibromyalgia, and other related conditions (source).

Both of these forms of magnesium are easily absorbed.

Prices Per Serving

When I’m looking at getting supplements, price is a major factor in my discussion. I have this table below on the price per serving and then another table on the price per electrolyte.

Name Price Servings Price/Serving
Re-Lyte Hydration $41.99 60 $0.70
LMNT $45 30 $1.5
When you subscribe to LMNT the price is $39. When you subscribe to Re-Lyte or use my KKN15 code the price is $35.69.

Price Per Electrolyte

Name Price/Magnesium Price/Potassiuim Price/Sodium
Re-Lyte Hydration $0.84 $0.10 $0.05
LMNT $0.75 $0.23 $0.05

Some Common Questions about Re-Lyte and LMNT

What are the benefits of Redmond Re-Lyte?

One benefit of Redmond’s Re-Lyte is that it’s formulated with experts to include a 2:1 sodium-to-potassium ratio, plus magnesium, chloride, calcium, and the 60+ trace minerals from Real Salt. (The Unflavored variety does not have calcium.)

Another great benefit of Redmond’s Re-Lyte Hydration mix is that it’s easier to mix compared to their previous Re-Lyte Electrolyte powder.

The new formula has the same amounts of electrolytes, 0 carbs per serving, and still no junk with great flavor.

To learn more about the new formula, click here.

What is comparable to LMNT?

After looking at my 10 different Keto Electrolytes post, I would say that Redmond’s Re-Lyte Hydration powder is more comparable to LMNT. I looked at the 1st chart which shows how many electrolytes are in each serving for each brand.

More Info on Re-Lyte Electrolyte Powder

If you want more detail on Redmond’s electrolyte mix, I have a post on their powder where I go into more detail.

Does Keto Bread Taste Good?

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I asked, does keto bread taste good to you, in my private Facebook group and another keto group, and these are the answers that I got.

No. I say skip the knockoffs.

I like to make the 90-second bread. Cloud bread is not bad either

It does to me. The texture is different.

I never had keto bread. I make my sandwiches lettuce wrap style.

Nooooo

No!!!

Depends on the bread, how it’s toasted, and how desperate I am.

I really like the gluten-free Carbonaut seeded bread. Slather it with butter and toast it in the broiler.

Some of them do. I like the Extraordinary Bites white bread I get at Walmart. I also am happy with the white bread version from Aldi.

A big fan of Aldi bread and hamburger buns. Carbonaut seeded is good too

I love Aldis keto hamburger bun the best! I haven’t tested my glucose level on it, but it tastes like the real thing.

It does now, 2 years into it.

Not to me.

Most don’t, but some do.

They’re all a little different, but I don’t really like any of the plain. However, once you add sandwich fillings or butter and cheese, they aren’t bad. I think my favorite is the Bake Lewis Shop Healthy Life Keto, but Aldi is okay too.

Keto Culture brand is my favorite.

We live in the northwest. I’ve tried 2 brands that look like real bread. The Franz brand smells and tastes like cardboard. The Orowheat brand is not so bad. I toast it and put on natural peanut butter when my tummy is upset. And every couple of weeks I make my daughter a grilled cheese with keto tomato soup.

It isn’t as good as homemade bread or even store-bought regular bread, but it’s bread. It holds butter and lunch meat. Buns hold hamburgers and hot dogs. It beats not having anything to be a holder for some foods.

Not so much, it’s more or less just a vessel. The low-carb tortilla options taste much better. The Great Value low-carb tortillas are my favorite these days.

You will have to try different ones, they are all different. I like the Sola Brand sweet oat bread (2 net carbs per slice) and the L’oven Fresh Keto hamburger buns. I’ve tried some that are gross and others that are ok.

The one I get from Sam’s Club, Keto Seed with a Dragon on it, is by far my favorite.

Sola is good.

I got an order from Sola last week and really like it.

It somewhat depends on how long it has since you tasted bread.

Orowheat brand isn’t bad.

Bake Lewis Shop Healthy Life Keto Bread is the best! They also have Hawaiian and Cinnamon Swirl!

I love chewy bread, so Sola is great for me. I just wish the slices weren’t Barbie-sized.

In all honesty no. They are either Eggy or psyllium husky. With the texture (which I would assume would be the same likeness) of those yellow sponges with the green scrubby. The only one I found good, was the Carbonaut bread the white, or the cinnamon raisin, TOASTED.

Blog writer stepping in here. I wrote a post on how to get rid o the eggy taste in bread. Check it out with the green link.

Some do, some don’t. I like Inked Keto.

I Iike the Healthy Life Keto. I toast it and put cream cheese on it with my breakfast. It’s a good bagel substitute for me.

The only keto bread I can stomach is Sola golden wheat. Have not tried the others yet.

The kind I’ve ever tried was Carbonaut and it was very good.

Yes! Sola brand is tasty!

I haven’t found one I like so I make coconut loaf with cinnamon in it.

Depends on the bread. I love Sola, but others I’ve tried are kind of bland and dry

I am using Aldi‘s keto-friendly bread, rolls and hamburger buns and it works as a substitute for me. No weight gain but only use a few times a week to keep me on the low carb plan. It tastes like whatever you put on it basically.

Only toasted or grilled.

Sola is the only bread that is tolerable for me.

It’s okay better than all the carbs in bread.

No. I gave it all up.

I do like the Keto Bakes bun mix.

Naw, it’s just a vehicle for transporting good things to my mouth.

From the responses I got 33% said keto bread does not taste good. Therefore 66% say it tastes good or they found a good enough replacement for bread.

As you can see above there are a lot of different viewpoints. Ingredients matter to some and not others. Different keto bread that you can buy can taste different from one another and people have their favorites of the bread they’ve tried. Heck, some people can’t find all of the low-carb bread to even try, depending on where they live.

There are tons of recipes out there for keto bread and there are at least 25 brands of keto bread that you can purchase in 2022.

For easy reading, I bolded all the brands that people mentioned in their answers above.

Does keto bread taste like regular bread?

As a general rule, keto bread does not taste like regular bread. However, I believe some bread companies come pretty close to making low-carb bread taste like regular bread. These bread brands typically have a lot of fiber in them to make their net carbs 2 or less. So it’s important to look at the nutrition label if you want to know how many total carbs are in a slice.

The Top Best Keto Bread Carb Counts

I believe total carbs matter when it comes to keto and deciding which bread you want to purchase. Therefore, I created a chart that provides the total carbs and net carbs of the top keto bread brands on the market.

*There is 1 gram of allulose in Lewis Shop and 1 gram of erythritol in the Sola brand.

  2. Light and Airy bread. This recipe has a total of 2.89 total carbs per slice. Great for cold-cut sandwiches. It even uses yeast, which is a nice flavor to make it more like regular bread. (Recipe by Bobbi’s Kozy Kitchen)
  3. This keto bread recipe uses gluten flour, golden flax, and oat fiber with only 2 total carbs per slice and 1 gram of fiber. (Recipe by Mad Creations)
  4. Dairy-Free bread. Each slice has 3.6 total carbs with 2 grams coming from fiber. (Recipe by Ditch the Carbs)

Is keto bread good eating? As a general rule, keto bread can be good eating. It’s great for making sandwiches, French toast, and even regular toast to add peanut butter and keto jam on for breakfast.

Can I Eat Fried Fish While On Keto? (I’ve Got The Answer)

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Fried fish is able to be enjoyed on the keto diet at home. As a general rule restaurant fried fish are higher in carbs.

On average according to nutritiondata.self.com 100 grams (1 fillet is about 91grams) of fried fish contain 17 grams of carbs. Also most likely these fish are fried in unhealthy vegetable oils.

Below, I provide the best fish to eat on a low carb and keto diet along with some tips to make fried fish at home, and a couple of recipes.

What fish can I eat on keto?

All fish are able to be eaten on keto. Fish are a great source of protein and have zero carbs, so it’s perfect for a ketogenic diet. Some fish have great sources of omega 3.

The Best Oils to Fry In

The best fats to fry in are tallow and lard. Both have a high smoke point that’s great for cooking at high temperatures. These are saturated fats from animals. Tallow is from beef and lard is from pork.

Most recipes will have you use different oils that have high smoke points (mild vegetable oil, peanut, grapeseed, safflower, soybean, sunflower, canola, and extra light oil). However, I like to saturated fats for frying my keto meals.

Low Carb Breading for Deep Frying

There are many low carb breading options on the keto diet for frying. Any of these options below would work great for fish. Choose one of these options or a combination of the list. I personally love how coconut flour and grated parmesan taste.

  • Whey Protein
  • Egg White Powder
  • Grated Parmesan
  • Crushed Pork Rinds
  • Almond Flour
  • Coconut Flour
  • Grated Coconut Flakes
  • Ground Flax Seed

Feta Cheese Crisps – Keto Keuhn Nutrition

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

These feta cheese crisps came to light all because some of my feta cheese fell into another area of my dish of food in the microwave.

The feta that was by itself became crispy like a chip and I loved it. No need to make cheese crisps in the oven anymore!

Recipe Tips

If you want a thicker crisp, use 10 grams of feta or somewhere between 5-10 grams of feta. I found that when I did the 10 grams, cooking between 6 to 7 minutes worked well.

The photos below used both sizes. The cooking times may also vary depending on the mold size you use.

Potassium

If you are eating keto, you know that you need potassium. Herbs can be one place to get them. Basil is one of those herbs that contain potassium.

In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, there are 7 dried herbs that are high in potassium. These are chervil, coriander, parsley, basil, dill weed, tarragon, and turmeric (1). Dried basil has 2,630 mg of potassium per 100 grams (2).

  • Mixed Berry-0 carbs
  • Mango-0 carbs
  • Pina Colada-0 carbs
  • Watermelon Lime-0 carbs
  • Lemon Lime-0 carbs
  • Unflavored-0 carbs

What is comparable to LMNT?

After looking at my 10 different Keto Electrolytes post, I would say that Redmond’s Re-Lyte Hydration powder is more comparable to LMNT. I looked at the 1st chart which shows how many electrolytes are in each serving for each brand.

Keto Beef Stroganoff with Cream Cheese | 1.5 Total Carbs

If you are looking for an easy and quick keto comfort food this homemade ground beef stroganoff is for you.

It is easy to make as you can cook everything in one pan. No need to cook noodles. Also no need to dice up a steak as this recipe uses ground beef.

Ground Beef Stroganoff on a bed of pork rinds.

Ingredient Substitutions

I used 80/20 ground beef in this, however you can use whatever percent you like best.

The reason for choosing cream cheese instead of sour cream is to save on some carbs. The end result is just as great. However, you can still use sour cream in this one pan dish if you want.

By doing this, it also helped me avoid needing any thickening agent like xanthan gum. Xanthan gum is a perfectly fine ingredient, but it can bother some people when they consume it.

If you want to use a whole onion instead of onion powder, you can do this. I would maybe dice up about 2 to 4 tablespoons of a white onion and saute it in the 1st step. I choose to use onion powder to save on carbs and to help from not having to buy a full onion, that you may or may not finish

If you don’t have minced garlic, you could also use powdered garlic too. I would start with ⅛ of a teaspoon and adjust to your flavor preference. I like to buy the jars of already minced garlic to make my life easier and it keeps long in the fridge.

All of the other ingredients are hard to replace as they really help get the flavor just right.

Dairy Free

This recipe easily can be dairy free. Kit Hill is a company with dairy free options and cream cheese happens to be one of them.

If you want to make this stroganoff recipe dairy-free, use 33 grams of this recipe in place of the dairy cream cheese.

Noodle Options

There are many options you have available to use instead of noodles. Such veggie options would be to serve the mixture over cauliflower rice, zoodles (which are zucchini noodles), cabbage or even green beans.

Another option is to use miracle noodles.

However, my favorite is to use a snack food that has zero net carbs, in fact it has zero carbs. Pork rinds! It’s not exactly the same dish, but I absolutely love it this way now.

Directions

Below I have photos to show you main parts of the cooking processes.

You first want to melt the butter then add in the onion, garlic, and mushrooms over medium to low heat.

Lastly, the cream cheese and beef broth get added. This recipe doesn’t use sour cream as a way to save on net carbs. This is also the reason why I decided not to use cauliflower rice.

These photos are the main steps in cooking the ground beef stroganoff.

Questions

Can you freeze low carb beef stroganoff?

Yes you can. However, I would cook everything but the cream cheese. Then when you are ready to enjoy your meal, reheat it on the stove top and add in the cream cheese over medium heat.

How many carbs does this keto beef stroganoff have?

I have seen a variety of ranges from 3 to 4 net carbs. However, my recipe only has 1.5 total carbs.

Is this recipe gluten free?

Yes it is! You just have to make sure the brand of worchestire sauce is gluten free. Read those labels.

What can you substitute for sour cream in beef stroganoff?

Instead of using sour cream in beef stroganoff you can use cream cheese or even yogurt. Two Good Yogurt has a great plain keto yogurt you can use. If using yogurt in this recipe I would use 1/4 cup. This recipe uses 4 oz of cream cheese instead of sour cream.
